Remediation

Remediation involves actions taken to minimize the consequences of an environmental problem. For example, if a spill of a hazardous chemical occurs, the hazardous chemical itself is removed as well as any contaminated soil, and if water has been contaminated, other chemicals may be added to the water to reduce the toxicity of the hazardous chemical.
