Artesian AquiferAn artesian aquifer contains water under pressure as a result of hydrostatic head. An aquifer must be covered by a confirming material or aquilude and receive a supply of water for the artesian aquifer to exist. The free water surface stands at a higher elevation than the top confining layer.
