Conservation Reserve Program (CRP)

The conservation reserve program (CRP) is an Agricultural Stabilization & Conservation Service (ASCS) set aside program. The ASCS will pay half of the cost for not using highly erodible agricultural lands for crops but rather to plant permanent grasses, legumes, trees, or wildlife cover or establish wind breaks. A land owner agrees to a contract, and the ASCS makes annual payments to the owner for maintaining the reserve.
