Information About the Scholarship

The International Association of Agricultural Information Specialists (IAALD) and the National Agricultural Library in the United States are providing a limited number of scholarships to librarians from eligible countries. These scholarships will provide funding up to US $2500 to provide travel, hotel and subsistence (made available on arrival) to the IAALD World Congress/USAIN Biennial Conference to be held in Lexington, Kentucky USA in May of 2005. In addition, IAALD will pay the full conference registration.

Factors considered by the selection committee include but are not limited to the following:

• Is the applicant presenting a paper or poster session
• Has the applicant been a member of IAALD and/or USAIN over the past 3 years
• Has the applicant attended past IAALD Congresses or recent sponsored work shops.
• Is there a demonstrated financial need
• Does the applicant have permission from his or her supervisor to travel to the Congress
• Will participation by the applicant benefit agricultural information development in his or her country

To apply for the scholarship submit a completed form by December 31, 2004. Applications must be received by December 31, 2004 to be eligible for consideration.

All countries on Part I of the List are eligible but only selected countries from Part II are eligible. All submissions will be validated by the IAALD/Secretary Treasurer.

Travel to the United States

Visas are required for all people entering the United States except for those people from Visa Waiver Countries. A B-1 Visa is required for entry to attend the IAALD/USAIN World Congress. Consult your nearest US Consulate for visa requirements.
