  • What is extension?

    The Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service is the educational resource for all Kentuckians that serves as a catalyst to build better communities and improve quality of life. Extension serves as a link between the counties of the Commonwealth and the state's land grant universities to help people improve their lives through an educational process focusing on their issues and needs.

  • Who are the extension agents for my county?

  • Can you send me a copy of a UK Cooperative Extension Publication?

    Extension Publications are available online. Type the name of the article, keywords from the article, or the article number into the search box on the right side of the page.

    How can I get a UK library card?

    UK faculty, staff, and students - Simply bring your ID to any circulation point to have your barcode entered into our system.

    Others - Kentucky residents are eligible to become special borrowers. Simply present a Kentucky driver's license at any circulation point.

    My library card is expired, how do I renew it?

    Faculty, staff, and student library cards renew automatically. Special borrowers simply present a valid Kentucky ID at any circulation point.

    What is your patron record confidentiality policy?

    University of Kentucky Libraries confidentially policy is available online:

    Renewing materials online is fast and easy when you logon to InfoKat.

    How do I pay a fine?
    Fines may be paid in person at the Circulation Desk in the AIC, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Fines may also be paid by mail. Please make the check payable to 'University of Kentucky' and mail to: Fines Offices, 1-50A Young Library, 500 S. Limestone St., Lexington, KY 40506-0456. Borrowing policies at other campus libraries vary. Please check with the specific library for information.

    Users can search our online catalog worldwide through InfoKat. Choose a basic or guided search. Searches include keyword, author, title, subject and more.

    What books, journals, indexes and abstracts, reserves, and audio visual materials are available at the AIC?

    In addition to the AIC's many electronic resources, there are current journal issues (generally about a year's worth of a given title), print copies of select indexes and abstracts, and various reference works maintained at our facility. There is also a Course Reserve collection (contents of which vary from semester to semester depending upon instructor needs), Permanent Reserve collection housed behind the circulation desk, and a video tape collection on shelving in the lobby.
