Each year, the AG & HES Alumni Association acknowledges 19 deserving individuals per award category (listed below) including: 14 state area chapter winners, 4 out-of-state regional winners, and 1 international winner.

Animal Science Hall of Fame

The UK Department of Animal and Food Sciences is seeking nominations for the 2009 Hall of Fame Award.  Nominees must have made outstanding contributions to the Department and/or animal agriculture in Kentucky. 

Introduction into the Hall of Fame is intended to be a special honor to living persons rather than a memorial to those who have passed away.  It represents the highest honor that the Department of Animal and Food Sciences can bestow.  Nominees need not be alumni of the Department or University, nor reside within the Commonwealth of Kentucky, but they must be strong supporters of the animal industry.  The award will be presented at the Animal and Food Sciences Reunion on October 23, 2009.

Selection will be based upon significant contributions to animal agriculture in Kentucky, including, but not limited, to:

1.)  Monetary or in-kind support of student activities and/or teaching, research, or extension programs.
2.)  Promoting improved public relations for animal agriculture through writing or speaking.
3.)  Participating in significant state, national or international activities to present or reflect the positive attributes of the University of Kentucky’s animal sciences programs or Kentucky’s animal industry.

Family of the Year

A new award in 2006! This honor is bestowed upon a selected family who has a history of dedicated service and attendance to the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture.

HES Hall of Fame

The HES Hall of Fame recognizes the accomplishments of outstanding persons who have made exceptional contributions of time, resources, and effort to ensure the continued success of the College and the School.

This honor is extended to individuals who have met one of the following criteria:

1) Graduated from the School of HES and have a record of commitment/contribution to the College and their professions.

2) Demonstrated a commitment to the College mission.

3) Contributed to the College through their personal or professional affiliation.
