Cardinal Hill Inservice

August 5, 2005. John Hancock and Courtney Williams provided an overview of Kentucky AgrAbility services to 20 Cardinal Hill physical therapists and occupational therapists. 

Guest Lecture for University of Kentucky Rehabilitation Counseling Graduate Course

On July 12, 2005, Barney Fleming and Kathy Sheppard-Jones presented an overview of Kentucky AgrAbility to 14  students participating in the course "Supported Employment, Transition, and Independent Living" at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

National Institute for Farm Safety

Cardinal Hill Inservice

June, 2005. Courtney Williams and Kathy Sheppard-Jones provided an overview of Kentucky AgrAbility services to Cardinal Hill case managers. 

Spring Workshops in Assistive Technology and Driver Rehabilitation

May 24 - 26, 2005. Kentucky AgrAbility co-hosted the Spring Workshops in Assistive Technology and Driver Rehabilitation along with the Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. Over 60 rehabilitation professionals attended sessions on topics ranging from Recreation to Effects of Medications on Employment and Driving.  

AgrAbility National Training Workshop

On November 17, 2004, John Hancock, Barney Fleming (Kentucky GROW), and Matt John (Kentucky GROW) presented "Kentucky GROW: Lessons Learned From a Three Year Inclusive Gardening Grant" at the National Training Workshop in Springfield Illinois.

US Driving for the Disabled

On November 7, 2004, Kathy Sheppard-Jones presented on her experiences competing with Morgan horses. Twenty-seven professionals from around the country attended this certification workshop at the Gayla Driving Center in Georgetown, Kentucky.

UK Advance

On September 27, 2004, Kathy Sheppard-Jones presented an overview of Kentucky AgrAbility to 43 University of Kentucky staff participating in UK's intensive leadership development program. This resulted in an interest in follow up and referrals from several attendees.

On July 27, 2004, John Hancock and Linda Freudenberger presented an overview of Kentucky AgrAbility to students participating in the course "Supported Employment, Transition, and Independent Living" at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

Assistive Technology Conference

June 30, 2004, Kentucky AgrAbility staff John Hancock and Kathy Sheppard-Jones presented a three and a half hour workshop titled: Agricultural Applications of Assistive Technology and Rehabilitation Engineering. This course provided an overview of the application of assistive technology and rehabilitation engineering in agricultural settings. Case studies were used to illustrate creative approaches to assisting farmers and other agricultural workers with disabilities. Unique adaptations to farm machinery and equipment and modifications to farm buildings were illustrated. The services offered by Kentucky AgrAbility were highlighted. The course also briefly explored adaptive gardening and possible applications of assistive technology in recreation. Approximately 30 rehabilitation professionals attended this session.

National Institute for Farm Safety Conference

Kentucky AgrAbility staff, John Hancock, Linda Freudenberger, Kathy Sheppard-Jones, and practicum student Carla Sanders traveled to Keystone, Colorado June 20-24, 2004, to participate in Kentucky AgrAbility's accepted poster presentation: Safety Tips.

ADED Conference

In August, 2003, Kentucky AgrAbility project director John Hancock and Barney Fleming of the Interdisciplinary Human Development Institute at the University of Kentucky provided a three hour workshop titled: AgrAbility: Driving Modifications for Field and Forest, at the Association for Driver Educators' national conference in Crystal City, Virginia.
