Teen Track
Like the camps the purpose
of the Teen Tracks is to improve the knowledge and understanding of
biotechnology of young Kentuckians. In 2005
a Biotechnology Track was held at the Teen Conference on the
We had 12 Teens, from
districts 1, 4, 5 and 6 participate in the Biotech Track. Ten of the Teen participants were female and
two male ranging from ages 13 - 17. Two
agents and two leaders also participated in the Biotech Teen Track.
Kathy Junker has submitted
a proposal for a similar Biotech Track to be held at the 2006 4-H Teen
Conference. The suggested title and
description for a Teen-Track proposal:
CSI: BioTechnology in Action
- Scott Kineson, Lauri Pulver, David Hildebrand and Joe Chappell
Participants will investigate a crime scene, analyze the evidence, evaluate DNA
samples and identify the perpetrator. This track is part of a 4-H Venture
Grant. Teens participating will have the opportunity to serve as counselors at
a state-wide camp or at county camps.
We understand
this will be June 13 and 14, 2006, 9:30 - 11:30 if chosen as a Track.
