Introduction - Welcome to the Corn Variety Testing, Department of Plant and Soil Sciences.

The University of Kentucky Corn Variety Testing Program evaluates Hybrid corn varieties that are commercially available or may soon be available to farmers. Annual variety performance testing provide farmers, seed producers, extension agents and consultants with current, unbiased information to help them select the varieties best adapted to their locality and individual requirements.

Twenty-four corn variety tests are conducted at six locations throughout the state under No-Till or minimum tillage.

2012 Corn Variety Trial Data

2012 Kentucky Hybrid Corn Performance Test Report (pdf)

Drought and high temperatures adversely affected many regions of the state during the 2012 corn growing season. The Princeton tests were severely affected and not harvested. The Lexington and Graves Co. tests were harvested, but due to high variability the results were not published; likewise the LaRue Co. Early and Medium Hybrid results were not published.
