BMP Generator is a software program developed by Curt Judy, Todd Co. Extension Agent for Agriculture & Natural Resources. The program was developed to assist Kentucky landowners and farmers in developing their Kentucky Agriculture Water Quality Plans. Kentucky law required plans to be developed and implemented by October 2001. Based upon how the user answers the assessment questions, this program will generate a list of suggested water quality best management practices (BMP's) that can form the framework for an Agriculture Water Quality Plan. Once the BMP list is printed out, the landowner and/or farmer must complete the plan by filling in the plan sheets with information concerning: (1) the fields involved for each practice (BMP); (2) the planned completion date for the practice; (3) the actual completion date for each finished practice; and (4) any other details that may be needed for the plan.
The BMP Generator program may be used by any individual who is required to complete a Kentucky Agriculture Water Quality Plan, or by an employee of a governmental agency (such as the Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service or a local Kentucky Conservation District) that is responsible for assisting landowners and/or farm operators in developing Kentucky Ag. Water Quality Plans.
The BMP Generator software is copyrighted. Permission for such persons as those named above to load and run this software on one computer is granted subject to the following conditions: (1) the name, mailing address, and telephone number of the user must be sent to Curt Judy, Todd Co. Agriculture Agent, PO Box 97, Elkton, KY 42220; (2) each user agrees to respond to a survey (or surveys) designed to determine how the program has been used, and/or to measure its usefulness in developing Ag. Water Quality Plans, and (3) that the BMP Generator Program may not be sold, nor bundled with any other product(s) (such as software, printed information, etc.) for which a user is charged, or for which a user must pay any kind of fee (license fee or otherwise).
The program has been distributed on CD's to local Conservation District offices through the Kentucky Division of Conservation field representatives, and to county Extension offices through area program directors. County Extension agents may download the program from the UK College of Agriculture software download site.
