Education:

  • MS in Entomology
    University of Rhode Island, 2005-2007.
  • BS in Soil Science and Hydrology
    University of Rhode Island, 1997-2001.

Research Interests:

Overall I am interested in reducing pesticide usage in a variety of systems, and finding practical alternatives for land users. My current research focuses on the biological control of the black cutworm, Agrotis ipsilon, (Noctuidae, Lepidoptera) in golf course habitats. Studies are in progress to evaluate a naturally occurring baculovirus, AgipMNPV, for season long suppression of black cutworm (BCW) on golf course tees. I am also exploring the species complex, abundance, seasonality, and resource partitioning of parasitoids of BCW in golf course habitats. Conservation biological control efforts to increase BCW parasitoid abundance by using habitat manipulation and identification of parasitoid recruiting kairomones, are examples of experiments in the planning process.
