The Harrison Garman Entomology Club is an organization composed of graduate students from the University of Kentucky Entomology Department. The primary purpose of our group is to serve as the student voice in our department, circulating information of importance between our graduate students and faculty.
We also participate in many functions both at the University and in the community. Some of these activities include our annual Insect Walk at Raven Run, judging at science fairs, and giving educational presentations in the community.
Our club also created the Bobby C. Pass Students’ Choice Speaker Award, which awards scientists who have had a significant impact in the field of Entomology and have inspired scientific creativity among our graduate students. Each year, the recipient of this award is invited to visit our department, where they meet with individual labs, have lunch with the graduate students, present one or two seminars, and attend an evening departmental social.
