· How many honeybees make up one pound of bees?
· What is the active ingredient in neem oil?
· What famous American entomologist used his cork leg to carry pinned insect specimens?
· Where and in what year was the Japanese beetle first discovered in the United States?
If you can answer these questions, you’d be a great candidate for the Entomological Society of America Linnaean Games Competition. This is an entertaining competition in which students from all over the country are tested on their entomological knowledge before a crowd of fellow scientists. Two dueling teams enter the stage at a time, and are asked a number of questions, to which anyone may buzz in and answer. The team whose members answer the most questions correctly move to the next round. Winners from the regional ESA meetings are then invited to compete at the national meeting.
Categories for questioning include: Apiculture Biological Control Ecology Economic Entomology |
