The AFE 396 Travel Experience program at the University of Kentucky is an excellent opportunity for students in the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment to earn credits while immersing themselves in another culture — building upon their newfound skills.
Visit three cities in Belize to truly immerse yourself in the rich heritage, history, and culture of the Belizean culture.
This program is multicultural, dynamic and experiential, providing students with plenty of opportunities to take stunning photos and create cherished, life-long memories.
Travel Dates: May 13 - 23, 2024 (students will spend 10 nights / 11 days abroad)
Location: Belize, the only English Speaking country in Central America, Dubbed "Mother Nature's Best Kept Secret"
Learning opportunities: minars, professional visits, cultural visits, tours, etc. dealing with a variety of aspects in the community and agriculture industry.
Highlights:
- Develop a Jr. MANRRS program at St. Ignatius High School
- Compare and contrast the 4-H youth development program to the US and Kentucky
- Compare and ocntrast the agriculture industry to the US and Kentucky
- Learn about the various cultures within Belize and how that compares and contrast to the US and Kentucky
- Compare and contract community engagement in Belize to the US and Kentucky
