Introduction to the High School Financial Planning Program Introduces the HSFPP through the story of a young woman who completed the HSFPP and saw financial responsibility and planning as a way to afford college and ensure future financial success. Money Wise Investing (VRM-1307) A rather detailed video. It offers technical financial investing advice for people who have a background in financial planning. The video gives a quick explanation of the different types of investments, the type of return they bring, and the financial risk they carry. Having this knowledge is not only useful, but necessary for investors as they decide which type of investment fits their financial goals. Although this video was rather in-depth, it could be very helpful for beginning investors if they also take advantage of the workbook that accompanies the video. Additionally, this video would be a useful supplement to teachers using the High School Financial Planning Program, specifically as they go more in-depth with students about investing opportunities in unit 4. DVD: Risk, Responsibility, and Reality: How Insurance Works (Use with Unit 6)
This DVD is a supplemental learning tool for high school teachers to educate students about insurance, especially as they are relevant insurance and risk management. The supplemental materials are designed to explain the basics of to high school students now or in the foreseeable future, and help students apply them to everyday situations that they can relate to. The program also promotes personal responsibility as a route to controlling risk. 20 minutes. Intended user: volunteers working with a teen audience.
