
Keys to Great Parenting
Educational Posters
Purposes
of Keys to Great Parenting posters:
- To
visually illustrate Kentucky Cooperative Extension’s program, Keys to Great
Parenting: Fun and Learning with Your Baby or Toddler, dedicated to maximizing
children’s developmental outcomes by assisting parents to build their skills
as long-term primary educators.
- To
provide broad visibility for Kentucky Cooperative Extension’s research-based
resources in parenting education, child development, as well as other areas
of family and consumer sciences.
- To
especially reach out to particular audiences of parents and primary caregivers,
such as those who may not attend group or home-based parenting education sessions
and those with limited English proficiency.
- To
enhance the impact of group and home-based parenting education sessions with
visual images, concise concepts, and easy adult-child activities.
- To
express respect and appreciation for parents of all generations, cultures,
and ethnicities through the diversity of families pictured in the posters.
Description
of each poster:
- Conveys
the outstanding concepts in each of the seven corresponding Keys to Great
Parenting publications.
- Measures
11” x 17” and is printed on high quality paper.
- Illustrates
the content of the corresponding Key with a beautiful, full-color photograph
of a parent and young child having fun and learning together.
- Announces
on a broad, color-coordinated band the title of the corresponding Keys
to Great Parenting publication, states the central meaning of that Key
in one sentence, and displays the Cooperative Extension Service logos of the
University of Kentucky and Kentucky State University.

- The Keys to Great Parenting
posters have been created through a generous grant from KIDS NOW,
Kentucky’s Early Childhood Initiative, administered by the Early Childhood
Development Authority and Kim F. Townley, Ph.D.,
Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood Development,
Frankfort, Kentucky.
Suggested
uses:
- Posted
and referred to during Keys to Great Parenting group sessions and home
visits.
- Placed
prominently in county Cooperative Extension offices, family resource centers,
public health departments, physicians’ offices, hospitals, public elementary
and secondary schools, Head Start and Early Head Start centers, community
halls in places of worship, nutrition centers, social service agencies, public
libraries, children’s museums, child care centers, family day care homes,
supermarkets and grocery stores, laundromats, police
stations, discount stores, detention centers, bowling alleys, workout gyms,
among other public places.
- Pre-parenting
and parenting education resources for 4-H groups; babysitters’ training; middle-
and high-school family and consumer sciences, health, and social studies classes;
youth services centers; and numerous other groups and occasions.
Distribution
of posters:
- Distributed
free of charge while supplies last.
- Distributed
only as a set of seven posters.
- Distributed
