Central KY Farm employees from the Little Research Center and the North Farm participated in a Tree Felling and Trimming Safety Training Tuesday April 23, 2013. The training was conducted at the North Farm. Dick Brantigan from Winchester conducted the training.

Mr. Brantigan is a former US Forest Service employee who now performs private consulting services. Mr. Brantigan demonstrated a technique for cutting trees that was new to most of everyone who attended the training. The technique is called the bore or plunge cut. After he demonstrated the procedure several employees fell a tree utilizing what they had learned in the class.

Cecil Hisle retires from the North Farm operations September 5, 2012, after nearly 19 years of service. Co-workers offered congratulations and best wishes at a reception held in his honor October 19, 2012.

During the occasion, Bob Brashear, Assistant Dean for Facilities Management presented Cecil with a state plaque commemorating his years of service. Cecil will be missed by everyone on the North Farm as a “go to” employee for the many technical jobs that he performed for everyone during his tenure.

OUTSTANDING STAFF AWARD: Dave Smith received one of the Outstanding Staff Awards in the Executive/Administrative/Managerial/Non Faculty Professional category.  Dave is Farm Superintendent of the North Farm. The award was presented at Staff Appreciation Day activities September 12, 2012.
