Web Journal: Week of March 3-7, 2008

This week we only went out on Tuesday, March 4. The past few weeks we have been trying to go out on Thursdays, too, to get more work done, but there are two of us from my group that were going to Conclave on Wednesday. We were also one short this week. Adrian Hudson was sick, so we couldn’t split up into two groups to get more done and we only finished two plots.

The weather forecast wasn’t looking good for Tuesday. It predicted thunderstorms all day. We got lucky, however, and managed to get out of there just before they started. It was actually quite nice out most of the day. The sky was clear and it was warm enough to take our jackets off.

Even foresters have to take a lunch break. Alan Coldiron eats a banana while he enjoys the weather.

Alan checks the location of our nest plot on the GPS. Because of the clear skies we had no trouble obtaining satellites.

We were given a deadline for our inventory reports before we went out this week: Friday, March 21. This is the Friday after spring break and means that we only have one more field day to get all of our plots finished. My group knows that we can’t get all of our plots done by then and we are beginning to get worried about how we are going to get it all done. Hopefully, we will be able to find some time over spring break to work on it.
