Kentucky Woodland Owners Short Course Program

Participants at WOSCThe 2009 Kentucky Woodland Owners Short Course is over.  We would like to thank all the participants and partner organizations for another successful effort! We are processing the evaluations and making plans for the 2010 Kentucky Woodland Owners Short Course.  If you have any thoughts related to this educational program please contact Billy Thomas at billy.thomas@uky.edu or 859.257.9153.

The Kentucky Woodland Owners Short Course (WOSC) has been developed to provide educational opportunities for the woodland owners of Kentucky.

Not only will you have an opportunity to meet and learn from forestry and natural resource professionals that can help you manage your property, you will also meet fellow woodland owners that are facing many of the same challenges as you. No matter what your interests are, the WOSC has a session for you. We encourage you to come with questions and leave with answers.

How can family woodland owners realize their woodlands full potential? Based on your experience and interest levels, you will attend one of two educational tracks lead by Kentucky forestry and natural resources experts.

Woodland owners participating in the Woodland Owners Short Course (WOSC) will self-select the most appropriate track based on the statements below. Choose a side and select the track with two or more statements in which you most relate. Couples may attend both tracks allowing them to be at each of the classes.

Green Track
Gold Track

I don’t know my options as it relates to managing my woodlands.

I am not sure of the services and assistance available to help me manage my woodlands.

I am fairly new to

I have identified objectives for my woodlands and have a management plan.

I have worked with forestry and other natural resource professionals in managing my woodlands.

I have owned my woodlands for some time and am looking to become more active in its management.

Plan to bring the family and join us for an educational experience that will have lasting benefits for you and your family. We look forward to working with you this summer!
