Sriveny Dangoudoubiyam received her Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry degree from Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Pondicherry University, India in the year 2000. She completed her Master’s degree in Veterinary Parasitology from Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Bareilly, India and continued to work as a Research Associate at IVRI. During this time she worked under the supervision of Dr. O.K. Raina, on evaluating fatty acid binding protein and cystiene proteases of Fasciola gigantica (liver fluke of sheep and cattle) as diagnostic and vaccine candidates. In early 2005, she came to the United States to pursue her doctoral degree at the Department of Comparative Pathobiology, School of Veterinary Medicine, Purdue University. Her doctoral research focused on developing molecular and serological assays for the diagnosis of visceral and neural larva migrans caused by Baylisascaris procyonis, a zoonotic nematode infection of humans. She successfully defended her dissertation in the year 2009. Currently, she is a postdoctoral scholar in the Molecular Parasitology laboratory of Dr. Daniel Howe and working on genome sequencing and annotation of Sarcocystis neurona, a protozoan responsible for equine protozoal myeloencephalitis. Her other projects include investigating various aspects of S. neurona biology and studying differential gene expression in S. neurona using transcriptome information generated by next generation sequencing technologies. |

Yanqiu Li obtained her Bachelors of Science with a Major in Biology in 1992 from Hubei University, China. During her undergraduate career, she worked as technician in Fishery Science Institute of Hubei Province, China. Subsequently, She started her virology research in State key laboratory of Virology, Department of Microbiology, College of Life Sciences, Wuhan University, China. She received her PhD degree in 2007. Currently, she is a postdoctoral scholar in Dr. Udeni Balasuriya's laboratory. Her current research is focused on Equine Herpesvirus. |
