In keeping with the service and outreach mission of the University, my lab offers clinical cytogenetics services. We are one of only two laboratories in the Americas that offer this service to equine veterinarians. We receive samples from veterinarians worldwide. This service is on a fee-for-service basis. We have identified two previously unreported chromosome abnormalities, one affecting mare fertility and the other causing severe congenital abnormalities in a foal (Lear et al. 1999; Lear and Layton 2002). |
