The Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Research Center, Department of Veterinary Science, University of Kentucky invites applications/nominations for the Albert G. Clay Endowed Chair in Equine Reproduction at the associate/full professor level. Candidates should possess a Ph.D. and/or D.V.M. degree(s), the latter with board certification in a relevant discipline. The focus of this endowed chair position is the development of a research program that leads to the advancement of knowledge and understanding of equine reproduction as related to biology, physiology, endocrinology, pathology, or immunology. As a member of the Graduate Faculty, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the training of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. The Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Research Center is located on the University of Kentucky Lexington Campus in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky. The mission of the Gluck Equine Research Center is scientific discovery, education, and dissemination of knowledge for the benefit of the health and welfare of horses. The Gluck Equine Research Center affords a stimulating environment emphasizing the application of basic and applied research methodologies to the health and reproductive needs of the horse. An internationally recognized group of faculty with expertise in equine reproductive physiology, infectious disease, parasitology, immunology, musculoskeletal development, genetics, pathology, toxicology and pharmacology partnered with horse owners, breeders, and equine veterinarians provide an unique environment for equine research. Additional departmental units include the Animal Genetic Testing & Research Laboratory and the Livestock Disease Diagnostic Center which provide additional opportunities for research endeavors. Departmental faculty also participate in the University of Kentucky’s Equine Initiative, a partnership between the College of Agriculture and the horse industry established through the efforts of the Gluck Equine Research Foundation, the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association/Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders, and College of Agriculture faculty and administrators.
