Equine Influenza Testing

Photo of Directigen testWe test nasal swabs for equine influenza virus using rapid Directigen Flu-A test (Becton Dickinson Corp) and testing for virus growth in embryonated eggs.  Occasionally, though not routinely we test for equine influenza virus by PCR.

We are particularly interested in the investigations of disease outbreaks and encourage submission of those samples for testing at no charge.  In the absence of a disease outbreak, for example for purposes of pre-export or post-import quarantine control, we charge $35.00 per sample tested.
