Extension
Land Grant Mission
As a land grant university, the University of Kentucky continues to work under a three-part mission including teaching, research and outreach. For the School of Human Enviornmental Sciences, the outreach work in the land grant mission is accomplished through Family and Consumer Sciences Extension and through faculty in each of the three academic departments.
Family and Consumer Sciences Extension
Family and Consumer Sciences Extension includes a network of faculty, specialists, associates and support staff with statewide appointments. Many of these professionals are housed on the campus of the University of Kentucky. In addition, each county Extension office in Kentucky is staffed by one or more Extension Agents for Family and Consumer Sciences.
