Dietetics and Human Nutrition

Dietetics

The Bachelor of Science in Dietetics prepares individuals to be recognized in the field of food and nutrition systems management. Graduates of the DHN Dietetics Program are prepared to apply for an accredited  supervised practice program /dietetic internship in order to become eligible to sit for the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) national registry exam to earn the credential Registered Dietitian (RD).  As a RD, graduates function as entry-level professionals with opportunities for practice in: medical nutrition therapy, community dietetics, food systems management, business and entrepreneurship, nutrition/product research, and nutrition counseling.

Hospitality Management

The Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management and Tourism prepares students for careers in the hospitality industry. Students also receive training in the functions, objectives, and techniques of management. Graduates of the program are prepared for managerial posi­tions in hotels, restaurants, noncommercial food systems, and tourism-related businesses, as well as positions as purchasing agents, restaurant and hotel equipment specialists, event planners, and other hospitality-related careers.

Human Nutrition

The Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition offers appropriate preparation for further study in nutritional sciences and health related sciences, particularly public health, medicine, pharmacy, health care supplies, physical therapy, physician assistant, and nutrition research.  Human Nutrition prepares you for careers in: quality control and product development for the food industry, regulatory services and food policy, formulation and sales of nutritional supplements, pharmaceutical development and sales, and health-related professions. Human Nutrition prepares you for advanced study in: medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nutrition research, physical therapy, physician assistant, and public health.
