Master of Science in Family Studies
The Department of Family Studies offers the Master of Science in Family Studies degree.  Family Studies uses an integrative approach to learning about improving individual, family, and community well-being.  This is accomplished through the generation and application of knowledge about human development, family systems, and family economics and financial well-being.  Students’ programs can be designed to prepare them for immediate employment in their chosen area or to provide an excellent foundation for doctoral study for those wishing to continue beyond the master’s degree.

Family Studies emphasizes the integration of individual development, family development, and family economics and financial management.   Students may choose a program from among courses that focus on developmental theory, lifespan human development, family system dynamics, family life education, family economics and financial management, consumer economics, and management of resources.  The program prepares professionals for positions of leadership in public and private educational and human service agencies.

Core Courses
  • Readings in Family Theory and Research
