There were 8 vendors that sold produce and baked goods. The market was open from the last of June to the middle of September. There was an average of 300 customers per week for a total of 3600 customers for the market year.
The vendors sold an average of $300 per week and one vendor sold $500 every week. During the farmer’s market appreciation day the vendors sold an average of $100 more, and one vendor sold over $800.
We have been able to keep the same vendors for 6 years as well as add a few new vendors this year. This is success in itself. The vendors also have a clientele base that come out to their farms and homes and buy produce.
The market has the ability to receive Women’s Infants and Children (WIC) checks from customers. Each vendor was trained by our office to be able to receive the WIC checks. The program is running very well and it brings fresh produce into homes of our county that may have not been able to purchase fresh ‘KY PROUD’ produce. This program also helps to bring in more clients to buy more produce. It is a ‘win win’ situation for all involved.
