Marketing Extension

Developing coalitions within the county has proven a major way to market the Extension Service and its value to clientele. The County Judge/Executive provided the county road equipment and personnel to construct a livestock arena [ground work], an access road to the office utility building and a road to the livestock arena, fill in sink holes on Extension property, leveled and graveled area of the utility building [including inside]. The value of donated work, materials and equipment was in excess of $15,000.

The World War II Remembrance Day Program has created goodwill and out pouring of community support. Our veterans continue to express their gratitude for recognition of their national contributions. The schools [selected 5th grades], teachers and principals have given testimonials to the value provided to students in a living history format. Patton Museum has worked with the Extension Office and continues to praise the office for its efforts in community pride and youth education.

The annual Youth Farm Field Day in coalition with the school system, commodity groups, local volunteers and university specialist have provided an excellent educational opportunity for local 3rd graders. Over 350 students participate each year. Families and friends of the students continue to praise the Extension Office for the farsightedness in educating youth in agricultural topics.
