Title Phase I Impact Approaches $3 Million

Impact Statement

By the end of 2006, the Garrard County Agricultural Development Council will have invested nearly $3 million in the county's economy through its cost-share and/or community improvement projects since the program's inception. That dollar amount ranks among the top dozen or so of the Commonwealth's counties. The agent has the administrative responsibility of working with the eight farmers that make up the Council's membership. Remarkably, there are 3 female members on the Garrard Council making it unique among all counties in that regard. A part-time Phase I coordinator assists with administrative tasks. The council which meets monthly at the Extension Center, has offered most all of the model cost-share programs over the years. Additionally, Phase I dollars have also been invested in important local projects such as $150,000 in the construction of the educational meeting facilities at the Extension Center.
