Title
Lawrence County Parks
Impact Statement
Lawrence County is a one-fuel tank community in relation to tourism. Geographically we include over 1,000,000 persons in a one hundred mile radius. With high fuel prices, it is advantageous that Lawrence County takes advantage of this situation. The Lawrence County Extension Service has formed an alliance in the development of tourism activities. Items include working on the fall festival’s Septemberfest, with a free petting zoo; the Arts Council with their ongoing projects; the County Fiscal Court and Recreation Board with the continued development of Pleasant Ridge Park and the 4-H Nature Center in the county park at Yatesville Lake. Park development is a benifit to the local population as well as tourism.
