For youth to gain better communication skills and better self- confidence, the 4-H communications curriculum was introduced to the both in Morgan and Menifee schools. With the guidance of the Morgan and Menifee County 4-H Councils and Community Education, the 4-H Communications curriculum was taught to 340 Menifee youth and 320 Morgan Youth. In return those youth presented demonstrations to the 4-H Agent and program assistant in Morgan and to the FCS and Ag agent in Menifee county in all of the school 4-H clubs. There was a blue ribbon winner chosen from each of the clubs with the invitation to come to a county demonstration contest.
At the 3rd annual Menifee County Demonstration Contest there were # youth that participated in the contest and a total of 2 that competed at the District level.
At the 1st annual Morgan County Demonstration Contest there were 12 youth that participated in the contest and a total of 4 youth that competed at the District level and 2 that competed at the state level.
Parents made direct comments to the 4-H agent about how impressed they were of their children’s ability to do public speaking. Even one parent stated how proud she was of her daughter for making it to county contest, because she knew how shy she was and this had been no easy task for her to complete. 100% of the teachers said they definitely wanted the communications curriculum in their classroom the next year.
