Title Art Gives Hope and Choices

Impact Statement

One local artist has had a challenging life in a mulitude of ways. His family struggles economically. With physical disabilties, he has no true means of support. He has the soul and talent of a true artist, with little possibility of regular practice or ownership of that talent and expression. This challenge often leads to depression for an artist.
These challenges led this artist to make some very poor decisions and life choices to the point of legal actions against him.

Through much hard, open communication, accountability, a defined system of expectations and rewards, along with boundaries, a supplied venue and a network of people who believe, encourage and depend on him, we now have a contributing citizen who is not just surviving - but is making a difference in other lives as well. Working with the Commonwealth Attorny, the arts have given this artist an anchor so he may reach his full potential as an artist and as a citizen.

At the Artisan Center, he is now creating every day, surrounded with other artistic people. He is submersed in an artistic envirnoment with like minded people, creating his own destiny. He is a necessary part of a community - of arts and artists.
