The Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association is a volunteer organization that works to improve the quality of life for families and communities through leadership development and education with the Cooperative Extension Service.
Fulton County Extension Homemakers continue growing in leadership in many ways. One homemaker has completed the requirements to be accepted into the Master Volunteer in Clothing program and is working on “paying back” her hours. Seven members attended the KEHA state meeting in Bowling Green. One member serves as an Area Educational Chair in Management. The County Homemaker Council voted to have a Spring Taster’s Luncheon, which required a committee to plan and implement this event. This included a recipe booklet in the admission price and was attended by sixty people. A new Extension Homemakers Club was organized at a local bank. Named the Lunch Bunch, the 20-member group meets at lunch time and has their learning session while eating lunch. Their employer pays their dues and provides their lunch, as an employee benefit. Extension Homemaker members also assisted with the “Book Cook” program held to encourage family literacy and better nutrition. Even though their county membership only numbers approximately 100, Extension Homemakers continue to strengthen their leadership skills.
