Membership is open to any UK or KSU Extension specialist, Extension associate, or professional with an Extension appointment or assignment. To be a part of KASEP, simply attend the annual meeting in March.
Networking
Membership in KASEP provides an excellent opportunity for state extension personnel to interact and network with one another. Moreover, this organization is especially helpful to new employees who are trying to navigate their way towards a productive career through our Extension system, and to others who wish to stay current on issues that affect us as professionals.Leadership
KASEP also provides a forum for interaction among state extension personnel and upper-level administration. For example, when the Assistant Directors proposed to have county agents evaluate state personnel, KASEP was asked to help develop the review process. KASEP encouraged the review process to include an avenue for positive feedback from county extension personnel. That idea was implemented in the process.Professional Development
Membership in KASEP also provides opportunities for professional development. In the past, KASEP members have met with elected officials and other employees of state government personnel. We were able to learn more about their efforts and their concerns, and they were able to learn more about Extension and our role in Kentucky.Awards
KASEP also provides a formal mechanism for identifying outstanding extension personnel and extension programs through our annual awards initiative. These awards help to appreciate our colleagues and admire their work, while informing our Extension leadership on what we consider to be good work.Fun
While KASEP provides professional development opportunities, the organization is not all business. At least once a year, we try to gather together for something enjoyable, whether it is a baseball game or a cookout.
