Calipari speaks to leadership students
When a University of Kentucky College of Agriculture instructor in the Community and Leadership Development Program was seeking a guest lecturer to talk to her class about leadership, she looked no further than UK men's basketball head coach, John Calipari. After all, the Wildcats have been ranked at or near the top of the college basketball polls all season and have turned their fortunes around, thanks to the leadership of their first-year head coach.
Coach Calipari accepted the invitation much to the delight of course instructor Grace Gorrell.
"It showed me that one of his priorities is to connect with our students. Because there was no politics, no whatever. It was just direct communication, and he could not have been more gracious," said Gorrell.
CaIipari spent more than an hour talking with the students about leadership and taking questions from the audience, which also included students from other classes in the Community and Leadership Development program.
