UK College of Agriculture appoints new associate dean for instruction
The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture recently announced Larry Grabau as the new associate dean for instruction. Grabau has been a faculty member with the college since 1984. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Missouri.
In his capacity as associate dean, Grabau joined the central administrative group for the college. UK College of Agriculture Dean Scott Smith said Grabau’s title is intended to signal the college’s continuing commitment to the balance and integration of the three primary mission areas--research, extension and instruction. His responsibilities include leadership of student services, the advising center, student recruiting and the related functions falling within the Academic Programs office.
“Dr. Grabau is known to most of the college for his long history of excellence in education, particularly at the undergraduate level,” Smith said. “He has established a record of innovation and achievement in several leadership roles at the department, college and university level.”
Grabau replaces Larry Jones, who will move to a part-time, post-retirement position in the college.
“I believe the college is facing numerous important decisions, challenges and opportunities in educational programs over the next few years,” Smith said. “I share with Larry the commitment that this college can continue to be special and unique for students on the UK campus, a place where they enjoy every opportunity to succeed.”
