Tree Farmer of the Year opens farm for field day
The event, which goes from 4 to 7 p.m. EDT Oct. 13, will include a tour of the farm and dinner. Participants will learn about the farm’s history and be given an overview of the American Tree Farm System. They will tour the premier American chestnut orchard in Kentucky and learn about the progress being made to return the chestnut to the state’s woodlands.
Preregistration is required for meal planning purposes. To register, contact University of Kentucky Forestry at 859-257-7597 or forestry.extension@uky.edu, or call the Oldham County Cooperative Extension office at 502-222-9453.
This year’s field day is sponsored by the Kentucky Tree Farm Committee, UK Forestry Extension, Kentucky Division of Forestry, Kentucky Sustainable Forestry Initiative Implementation Committee, Kentucky Association of Consulting Foresters, Kentucky Woodland Owners Association, Kentucky Forest Industries Association and the Oldham County Cooperative Extension office.
