The Kentucky Agricultural Experiment Station (KAES) has the responsibility for developing new germplasm, varieties and maintaining breeder and/or foundation seed for traditional varietal releases as assigned by the Unviersity of Ketnucky. KAES consults with the Foundation Seed Project and KSIA before determining the distribution of foundation seed.
One of the important functions of the KAES's plant breeding program is the development of superior varieties to improve quality and to increase the biological efficiency of plant species. The following document reflects the policies and procedures followed for the release of improved plant species, hybrids and varieties of the KAES.
