Dr. Newton Kalengamaliro, Agricultural Programs Manager for Altria Client Services, presents a check for $85,000 to College of Agriculture Associate Dean for Research Dr. Nancy Cox during the 2008 Fall Semester.

Altria Client Services Presents Gift

A portion of the gift will be used for undergraduate tuition scholarships aimed at students from farm families.  Graduate students will also benefit from the gift with fellowship funds that will provide a monthly stipend, tuition scholarship, and student health insurance for students pursuing master's and doctoral degrees.

"The Altria family of companies has a long listory of providing support for programs that help strengthen and advance the field of agriculture," wrote Dr. Kalengamaliro.  "As the agricultural industry continues to evolve, Altria believes it is important to invest in these programs and initiatives that will help the next generation of agricultural leaders effectively address future needs and build long-term sustainability in the field."

The UK College of Agriculture administration, as well as undergraduate and graduate students, appreciate the ongoing generosity of Altria Client Services.  The scholarships and fellowships this gift provides allows many students to complete higher education degrees in agriculture.

Shown with Drs. Cox and Kalengamaliro are Drs. Scott Shearer, Bob Pearce, Larry Wells, Bob Miller, Kenny Seebold, Lowell Bush, Anne Jack, Andy Bailey, and John Wilhoit.
