THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY'S POULTRY RESEARCH PROGRAM
Helping the poultry industry meet new challenges
Applied research activities focus on issues of critical importance
to the poultry industry and poultry producers. Areas of interest include manure and nutrient management, feeding and nutritional strategies, ammonia control and air quality, alternative feed ingredients, and environmental nutrition. Projects have included:
- Use of low-protein broiler diets to control ammonia release
- The effect of selenium source on bird growth and productivity
- The use of organic minerals to improve bird performance
and reduce environmental impact - The use of distiller’s dried grains with solubles in poultry
diets
For more information on research areas check out the webpages for the two poultry research professors - Dr. Tony Pescatore and Dr. Austin Cantor.
