As required by the Constitution, every 10 years the Decennial Census makes an official count of persons living in the United States.

To better reflect diversity across the nation, for the 2000 Decennial Census, individuals were able to
report more than one race. This is now the standard and was continued for the 2010 Decennial Census.
Hispanic origin refers to ethnicity.

A distinct concept from race, it is counted separately.
