Electric Fencing School University of Kentucky
Fencing experts will provide in-classroom fundamentals as well as hands-on sessions at the Grayson County Cooperative Extension Office in Leitchfield.

The upcoming 2025 Electric Fencing School, hosted by the University of Kentucky Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment Master Grazer program, will focus on installation and troubleshooting for serious grazers—benefitting livestock producers at any level.

Fencing experts will provide in-classroom fundamentals as well as hands-on sessions at the Grayson County Cooperative Extension Office in Leitchfield at 9 a.m. CDT on June 3. The goal is to help grazers master the art of electric fencing through immersive instruction.

Supported by the Kentucky Forage and Grassland Council, Kentucky Beef Network and the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund, the day-long school will begin with an introduction to electric fence principles and system design. Speakers include Hopkins County Agriculture and Natural Resources agent Jeremy McGill and Teutsch, an extension forage specialist.

Class members will move outdoors for permanent and temporary installation sessions. In addition to troubleshooting problems in the configuration, extension experts will provide tips to accustom livestock to their new enclosures.

Registration costs $35 per participant and $15 for students. Lunch will be provided. Those interested should register early and before May 30; the school is limited to the first 30 participants.
